There are things in this life we choose, things we inherit, and things other people hand us, intentionally or otherwise. There are circumstances we walk straight into, circumstances that find us, and circumstances we spend years trying to change.
Somewhere in the middle of all of that is the life we are actually living.
Welcome to Sacred Threads: The Weaving of Reality.
This series begins with one enormous question: What if understanding more about the forces that shape our lives can help us become more conscious participants in what happens next?
Not controllers of everything. Participants in something much larger.
Reality is shaped by an extraordinary number of influences: biology and environment, thought and emotion, relationships and circumstances, history and culture, probability, belief, behavior and choice. Then there are the things human beings are still trying to understand about consciousness, energy, synchronicity, manifestation and reality itself.
For thousands of years, we've approached those questions through science, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, metaphysics and countless cultural and spiritual traditions.
Sacred Threads isn't going to force all of those perspectives into one explanation.
We're going to follow the threads. ๐ชก
๐งต Imagine Reality as a Tapestry
A tapestry is never made from one thread, and neither is a life.
Thousands of threads cross through our stories. Some were woven in before we were old enough to know they existed: family, biology, culture, history, environment and circumstance. Others arrive through the people we meet, the choices other people make, opportunities, losses and events we never expected.
Then there are the threads we can reach ourselves: our attention, intentions, beliefs, words, boundaries, choices and actions. What we learn. What we reinforce. What we release. What we pursue. What we decide to do next.
We won't always be able to change the whole tapestry. Sometimes we may only be able to move one thread. Sometimes the first thing we can do is recognize that the thread is there.
❤️ Following the Threads
We're going to explore conscious creation, attention, intention, belief, manifestation, energy direction and exchange, frequency, vibration, resonance, sound, boundaries, transmutation, alchemy, 3 • 6 • 9, historical ideas about ether, synchronicity, consciousness and connection.
Some threads will lead us into science. Others will take us through psychology, history, philosophy, metaphysics or ideas preserved by cultures and belief systems around the world. Sometimes those paths may cross in fascinating ways.
We'll look at what people have believed, what we've learned since, what evidence can establish and what remains uncertain. We won't assume something is true simply because it's ancient or mysterious, but we won't dismiss a question simply because science hasn't answered all of it either.
Sometimes we'll find an answer.
Sometimes we'll find a better question.
And sometimes the most accurate answer will be, “We don't know yet.”
❤️ Participation, Not Control
Before we go any further, there's one distinction I want to make because it will matter throughout this series.
Sacred Threads will never suggest that everything that happens to us is something we attracted, manifested or deserved. We have choices. Other people have choices. Bodies get sick. Accidents happen. Circumstances change. Life contains things we did not ask for and cannot always control.
But having no control over everything is not the same as having no influence over anything.
That's the space Sacred Threads is interested in.
We are not its sole authors.
Understanding where our influence begins, where it ends, and what we can genuinely do with the threads within our reach may be one of the most useful things we can learn.
๐ชก Why the Red Thread? ๐
You'll see a red thread woven throughout the artwork for this series. Red threads appear in traditions and folklore across cultures, although their origins and meanings differ. They've been associated with protection, relationships, destiny, connection and invisible bonds.
For Sacred Threads, the red thread represents connection.
One thought isn't an entire reality. One decision isn't an entire life. One intention isn't an entire outcome. Our choices intersect with circumstances, our beliefs with behavior, our bodies with environment, and our individual lives with other people and the larger world. ❤️๐น
That enormous, complicated, beautiful tapestry is what we're going to explore.
❤️ Welcome to Sacred Threads
Every Saturday, we'll pick up another thread and follow it wherever it legitimately leads. We may end up in a laboratory, an ancient text, a psychologist's office, a philosopher's notebook, another culture, a piece of music, the history of an idea—or somewhere none of us expected when we started.
I'm not here to tell you what you must believe. I want us to understand more, look closer, ask better questions and discover what may be possible with the threads already within our hands.
Thank you for coming to learn with me! I'm SO excited about this series!! I hope you are too! ๐๐น❤️๐ฅ
